Apparently, the 21st Century fear, is stranger danger, that makes parents fret about their kids, turning them all into hover parents, turning them into scared spoilt brats that have everything done for them, despite the fact that crime is generally down on what it was twenty years ago.
Risk aversion. Keep them fearful and risk adverse?
