Ah, the new Vegemite. Very clever. They've made it look like chocolate and they've made the taste not as strong so more can be used on each slice of bread. I'm sure a regular bottle of vegemite takes forever to finish.
It now looks like Nutella and tastes like cream cheese.
They've made it more generic, taken away the unique qualities they may scare people away.
As for a name? Let me see? How about Cynicalmarketingploymite.

Holy shit there's a guy in my office that has that on toast every morning... it's his trademark! This is Canada, but I think he's from Australia.
You'll find that Australian's are completely blind to any criticisms about Vegemite. You can say what you like, it is a national Icon.
But now the now American owned brand is being play around with it, as the original is a very acquired taste, you know to broaden the market appeal.
Does your post mean you've actually fallen for the marketing ploy and bought some of the new stuff?
I haven't tried the new one but having just bought a jar of the original, I reckon it'll be sometime yet before I need to go out and sample more.
Some may say fallen for the marketing ploy, I might say that it would almost be unAustralian not to taste a new version of an Australian Icon, surely?
And, it’s not bad, but the original has nothing to feel threatened about. It’ll probably sell better overseas, no Australian is going to make the switch.
