Getting out of town on a fast train |
Our time in Rome is up, lovely Rome, beautiful Rome, arrivederci Roma
We called an Uber at 3pm, it arrived at 3.15, a black Mercedes Vito van. We battled the Rome traffic, which seemed to be interminable, good thing we left plenty of time. We got to the dreaded Termini Station at 4pm, to catch our very fast train at 16.25 to Florence.
Italian trains are smooth and fast. And in no time we were in Florence.
I carried my old fashioned suit case, with no wheels, from the Florence station. I'd been meaning to buy a new one, as we packed, I thought stupid me, after which I thought, oh fuck it, I'll just take this old one.
As we exited the Florence station, I decided then and there that it was ridiculous, that I needed to come into the 21st century and buy a suitcase with wheels in Florence. Sam had already transferred the heavy stuff into his suit case with wheels so my suitcase wasn’t so heavy to carry.
