As you posted a picture today («The Earth The Day After»?), I'll comment, finally, on this crush of mine on your texts.
About the end of May I started to go through blogs dealing with matters of my preference. A few turned out to be most interesting for different reasons, and yours too not only for the texts themselves but also for the person behind them. Yes, specially for your humour. You say yourself you're a cynnic (and who else knows that better?), but you strike me more the kind of an epicurist.
Finaly, when I decided to become a blogger myself too, went through all those informatic-technological craps all by myself, and was ready to tell you all about my liking reading your pieces in a comment, on that very day you had to post that text...
My best friend ever died 12 years ago. Of aids. We met for the first time when we were about seven and never parted ever since. We became more like brothers, we've never been real lovers, each one followed his own way as far as relationships were concerned. Lovers would go, but we stayed together. Right after university we came to share an appartment for a few years and our lives moved on.
Different homes, same workplace. All of the sudden, something decided we'd be colleagues until the end.
Now I know we've loved each other much more than we ever did all our lovers put together. Or at least I want to believe so. Makes me feel better, as far as his absence is concerned.
His nine year younger sister wasn't living in Portugal anymore when he became ill. He wanted so much to see her once again, but she was too far away to come back for a last visit. Some years later I saw her again when she came home to visit her parents. She had two children, had married a guy of Italian ascend and didn't stay long. She and her husband had to go back to their jobs «back home».
I went to the airport to see them off and haven't seen her ever since. The next day they were home. In Melbourne, where they´re living still today...
