On gay marriage, I reckon, in the foreseeable future, our parliament will have a conscious vote on it and it will pass and just like that Australia will be the 14th, or whatever number it is by then, country with gay marriage.
I reckon New Zealand maybe be enough to force Australia's hand. Pretty soon it will become an election issue, more than likely, the momentum it is gaining, and Australia is nothing, if it isn't being though of as progressive. Our nearest neighbour, and some how that puts New Zealand ahead of Australia, and we hate that too.
So it will be a conscious vote, probably before the next election, where each side of politics will be attempting to neutralise the other side's potential power by voting by conscious. Then after whoever wins the election, we have a new government, with gay marriage, and everybody gets away with it almost blame free.
And then everybody can stop banging on about it.
And then Abbott will come in, with what looks like control of both houses in a landslide victory and then, now this is the most important thing to remember when it comes to polling day, he will be able to do anything he likes.
